Let's be honest. Fashion has come a long way. In fact, there are times when while in the dressing room at Kohl's or Target, I can't for the life of me figure out how to even put a garment on. Our local 4-H though, are very unlike myself. They can put together an outfit for $15 or less, create a garment with their own two hands and can tell you exactly why their fashion selection is perfect for any occasion. This is just what they did during the Annual 4-H Clothing Event, held on Saturday, June 14. Results are as follows: Clover Kids Clothing Selection Brock Jean of Creative Clovers-- Green Ribbon Clover Kids $15 Challenge Brock Jean of Creative Clovers-- Green Ribbon

Q: Mackenzie, what ISU Extension related event do you love most about the Dallas County Fair? A: I love the livestock shows. It's great to know where your food comes from and gives the kids a chance to be their own producers and watch their animal grow. They start to understand how much it costs and the struggles and positives of raising an animal. Q: What is your favorite non-extension related item? A: I love how many people you meet at the fair. Dallas County is made up of so many different people, and it's great they can all gather at one place get to know each other! We have great events people can mingle at and go to such as the rodeo or tractor pull.
Mackenzie also said she met not only some of her best friends at the fair... but also her sweetheart. Mackenzie is the ISU Extension and Outreach of Dallas County Summer Assistant.
Q: Lisa, what ISU Extension related event do you love most about the Dallas County Fair? A: Of course my favorite thing is Clover Kids Day at the fair where K-3rd graders get to meet the "judges" and tell all about their wonderful projects they completed. I also enjoy checking out all the projects in the community building that the 4-H'ers have entered into the fair. I am always amazed with the great work they do and the ideas they come up with. Q: What is your favorite non-extension related item? A: I enjoy all the entertainment ranging from the balloon man, to the musical shows and puppet shows, and much, much more! Lisa Mickelson is an ISU Extension and Outreach of Dallas County Extension Educator.
